Former professional triathlete Mark Threlfall shares his secrets to running effectively and efficiently like a pro.
In this video, Threlfall demonstrates how you can transform your technique for a smoother and more effortless glide.
- Try to minimize the contact time with the ground. In order to run faster, transfer power quickly and efficiently by having shorter contact time with the ground . Include short intervals in your training along with plyometrics will help transfer power quickly.
- Alignment plays a huge role in improving running speed. “Aligning head, shoulders, hips and legs keeps you tall and balanced and this helps you to utilise big muscle groups and become a more efficient runner.”
- Make sure not to over stride and aim for your feet to land beneath your hips.
- Make sure to relax your shoulders when you run to avoid tension in order to prevent restriction in your breathing. Keep your shoulders relaxed and let your fingers dropped towards the ground
There you go! You just heard it from a pro! Now get out there and run!
